26 Acts of Kindness

This weekend, Ann Curry tweeted that she was going to do 20 Acts of Kindness in honor of the 20 children in Newtown, Connecticut that lost their lives on Friday.
She asked people to join her.
I'm joining in, but I am going to do 26 Acts of Kindness to honor not only the 20 children, but the 6 adults who lost their lives trying to protect the innocent children.
I am going to try and complete my 26 Acts of Kindness by Christmas.

Here are some ideas that I have for random acts of kindness:
-Donate food to a food bank
- Pay for the car behind you at the drive thru
- Leave lottery tickets taped to a gas pump
-Call a friend/relative you haven't talked to in a few weeks. (I'm calling my Grammy after school)
- Bake cookies for co-workers
- Pick up litter/trash if you see it on the ground
- Have a Pinterest board? Have you made a project/recipe from a pin? Go find out where that idea/recipe came from a leave a blog comment letting them know you loved their idea/recipe.
- Give a thank you card to your mailman (I am having the girls make cards for our mail lady today. This time of year is SO busy for the USPS, let them know you are thankful for them)
- Randomly leave a Starbucks card on someones car
- Give a pair of new socks/gloves to a homeless person
- Leave quarters in a candy machine/vending machine

There are so many simple things that you can do.
Some things don't even cost money.
I did my first couple Acts of Kindness yesterday.
First, was last night during dinner and we got a call from a telemarketer.
Normally, I just hang up on them. But, last night when they asked to talk to Kevin, I was polite, said that he was unavailable & that I hoped they had a good night. Simple.
The second thing I did was one of my Facebook friends has a friend in need who is battling cancer and they are trying to come up with money to buy her 3 kids Christmas presents since the mom is in the hospital. You could just donate money from your paypal. I only donated $10, but hopefully it will help a little bit.

I am looking forward to this week & doing Acts of Kindness.
If you need more ideas, check out Drew's post from when she did 31 Random Acts of Kindness for her 31st birthday. She has a lot of great ideas.
You can also check out THIS website for more Random Acts of Kindness Ideas.

Let me know if you have any other simple ideas that will help spread kindness.
I would love for you guys to join me this week doing 26 Acts of Kindness.

I know that this time of year (the week before Christmas) is SO busy.
I know I am busy...we are still in school & don't get out for break until this Friday. I have presents to wrap, gifts to make & tests to grade. My to-do list is a mile long. I don't really have time for this, but I am making time for it.
So, I'm in.
Are you?

Think of the 26 victims as you do your acts of kindness & don't forget to keep praying for Newtown.

Rest in Peace:
