The Weekend A Winner

It's Monday. Sigh.

This weekend was one of those weekends that made me desperately long for summer.

The weather has been GORGEOUS the past couple of weeks.

I love this time of year because it means summer is almost here and it means Garden time!

I look forward to planting my garden each Spring. I get giddy planning it out!

Usually I don't plant it until late April/early May, but because the weather has been so nice (and is going to be nice all week), I decided to plant it this weekend.

I love going to the nursery & picking out the veggies I am going to plant!

I spent Friday afternoon getting my plants. Then I had to pick up some things at the grocery store.

Their computers were down, so we couldn't check out for 45 mintues!!!

But, they were passing out wine samples, to keep people happy, so that was awesome.

Friday Night is (always) Pizza Night. My new favorite combo....Pepperoni, Pineapple & Jalepeno.

SOOOO good. Don't knock it until you try it :)

The sweetness of the pineapple paired with the spiciness of the peperoni & jalepeno is so good.

Add some ranch dressing & it's even better.

Warm weather means Iced Coffee Season is here!

Sweaty, but happy after doing yard work all weekend & getting my garden planted!

This book. Can't even read it without crying. I'm a hot mess.

On April 1st, I got an email from the Huffington Post (!!!!!) asking me if I could be on a LIVE skype interview panel with 4 other moms about celebrating holidays. They saw THIS article that I wrote and wanted me to be a part of it. I was flattered (and SCARED!)

I didn't end up doing it because I wasn't available for when they were doing the live panel. I was able to watch it later that night and it was a really great interview with 4 lovely moms who all had varied opinions on celebrating holidays. Very well done.

Apparently it was National Sibling Day last week.....in honor of that, I posted this pic of me & my sisters from Mother's Day 2009. We all randomly showed up wearing the same thing. This happens all the time with us. Two out of the 3 of us are usually wearing something similar.

Some days call for making homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies. Here is my recipe. I am a Cookie Snob. Are you?

Scenes from Easter Weekend

We had a fun filled & busy Easter Weekend that kicked off with egg dyeing at my in-laws on Good Friday.

Saturday morning was the Eggstravaganza at our church. It started at 10am. I finished sewing the girls bunny shirts at 10:01. (And never sewed the eye buttons on them. Oh well.)
Gotta love being a procrastinator.

Clearly, there is NO Bunny Phobia anymore. *Sigh*.

Keeping busy at the Eggstravaganza.

Back home on Saturday evening & picking the carrots from our garden so that we can leave them for the Easter Bunny.

These carrots started out as seeds last summer but we kept them growing for the reindeer at Christmas & now the Easter Bunny.

Sunday morning before church, the Easter Bunny seems to have left a trail....

The Bunny's trail continued in the house (but with bunny droppings)

The trail (of marshmallows) led them to their Easter Baskets.

I do the same thing for baskets each year...a couple of bathing suits, swimsuit cover up, flip flops & books) The only candy they get in their basket is the best Easter candy ever: Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs.

This year, Kate got 2 books and Claire got 1 book and a mini pillow pet that she has been begging for. Think she was excited?

Then it was time for the indoor Egg Hunt.

The girls would find eggs and give them to each other?!?! Who does that? It was so cute (and Claire started it) We'll see how long that lasts!

After church, it was off to Mimi & Jimmy's for another set of Easter Baskets.

Then we headed to our family friends house for our annual Easter celebration.
I left my camera in the car, so I don't have any pictures.
It was such a great day & so relaxing at their house (the girls played with their youngest daughter the whole time!)
It was an Easter weekend filled with good food, great people and a heart thankful for what Jesus has done for us!

Weekend Fun

-Lounging with my puppy on the weekends: $0

[I just noticed how pink his right eyelid is compared to the left!]

-New running shoes for myself and my husband: $260 [breaking out into a sweat over this!]

[note the cute swirlies on mine, even though the colors are blah. Same shoe I've bought for the last four purchases. Why mess with a good thing?]

[Nate's shoes. His first Sauconys. We'll see how great they are.]

-Buying six new bottles of wine from Trader Joes: $20. Seriously. They are all $3 or so:)

-My cool new centerpiece using our hurricane vase, expensive bottle of wine, and the ever-growing collection of wine corks: $0 [ the vase and wine were both gifts]

-Having "me" time to play on the computer while Nate works: priceless

-Having a whole Sunday ahead of us, without plans: priceless

-Setting up a fifth showing for our apartment: exciting, but not priceless. Someone needs to take the freaking plunge and sign a lease already! But it's great to have some interest in the place....cross your fingers!

Weekend in review

Whew, what a fun weekend. Wanna see some pictures of our fun [besides the numerous projects]?

We went to The Riverfront Pizzeria for some awesome pizza. Here is the crew, thrilled because I asked a random person to snap our picture before we devoured pizza. I forgot how awkward that is for everyone involved and I used to pull that move ALL the time in college.

Mom came bearing gifts, of course. She got us matching pajamas! Mine in pink and hers in blue but both providing extra long inseams. Never mind that the shirts make us look slightly pregnant---we are going for the comfy look.

Ah yes, more gifts wrapped in coordinating papers. We should have guessed.

Yankee Candles!! And enough for one in each room! I am absolutely obsessed with these candles and rarely splurge on them for myself. So Mom went all out and now our new duplex smells like a little slice of heaven [ or peaches, but whatev].

Henry got a new toy as well. His is the long bone version of a tennis ball and let's just say he won't let this baby out of his sight. I LOVE when dogs use their paws like hands.

We also spent a lot of time chatting, drinking coffee and tea, watching HGTV, went for a walk in the 34 degree weather [so proud of us Missouri girls!], went to church, and Mom gave me some awesome foot rubs. She's the best and I'm going to miss her! Come again soon, Mom!

****update: I totally forgot to add that we rented the movie "Across the Universe" Saturday night and is was pretty sweet. And by 'sweet' I mean it made me vow to avoid LSD, psychedelic mushrooms, and acid for the rest of my life. There was seriously an entire scene that represented a major trip on some sort of illegal drugs and it was pretty creepy. Weird stuff, I tell you. But the music was unbeatable, the main actor was totally adorable with his English accent, and it was a good love story. We WANTED to rent "August Rush" but apparently it's not out yet. But I'll take any chick flick I can get these days!****
